Kyle’s Favourite: Irish Red Ale
Liz’s Favourite: Pale Ale
This was one of our stand out
breweries that we wanted to visit, however, the only problem was that we failed
brew batch timings. The majority of the beers we wanted to try were not on tap
when we visited. Just to get out some frustration, it was table service but the
service was TERRIBLE! We ended up by ordering at the bar all the time anyway…
We tried 4 beers and we know
you shouldn’t really have preconceived expectations but we were disappointed.
The Mexican- pretty much like Corona but with a bit more going on, Irish Red
Ale- just a bit bland, Pale Ale- a non
offensive drinkable pale ale being slightly floral and mild bitterness and the
Stout- again middle of the road chocolatey stout.
The beers may not be
outstanding but the food was a whole other story. Liz had twice-cooked chicken
maryland with a buckwheat salad and chipotle dressing. It almost had the crispy
skin texture of crispy duck and definitely rectified our previously bummed out
feeling of the place.
Kyle tried the chilli burger with the choice of no chilli
(0) to ghost chilli hot (10). It was a decent burger with a well-made and juicy
patty oozing with lots of cheese on top. That was not all, the Stuffed Jalapeños,
please please have them! I am currently running out of things to say of how
good they were but the food there is great and well priced. All we can say we did not regret coming to
this place after all.
