About Us

Hey, Kyle and Liz here. We are both moved over to Brisbane, Australia in 2010 to take advantage of the glorious mining boom. Not really knowing what we were getting in to we threw ourselves into it and made some great friends along the way! Kyle worked at Collinsville mine while I was at Newlands Mine near Glenden. Both places have their own character- Collinsville with the claim 'The town you will always come back to' and Glenden has a MAHOOSIVE dragline bucket on one of the roads heading up to the town. 

Working in the mines opened our eyes as to the vast and beautiful scenery Australia has to offer. Ok, so around Mackay way there aren't great areas of rolling hills with luscious green grass but on our drives to and from the airport the views had their own charm as well as the new thirst for offroading which made us want to explore more.

We carried on working as consultant geologists in a few coal mines around Queensland in late 2012. After two years we decided "It Is Time" to embark on an epic journey around Aus. However, whenever you think it is the right time there are always things that can get in the way... Ours was primarily visa issues. We wanted to get Permanent Residency before we could set off! Finally after a year it came through but then... Dammit, the car wasn't ready for our big adventure plus our funds. 

Now two years on,  much more planning, citizenship test passed and our car as ready as it will ever be we can embark on our journey in Feb 2015! Who would have thought it was going to take so long....
