Pikes Beer Company, SA

Kyle’s Favourite: Stout
Liz’s Favourite: Pilsner

Pikes produce both beers and wines and there are currently brew 3 beers to try: pilsner, sparkling ale and a stout. In general we don’t go for these types of beers but thought we should try the brewery as we were in the area. For $10 you can try around half of pot of each beer.

The Pilsner was good and had more flavour than some of the others, apparently it is brewed to be a traditional Czech pilsner. The Sparkling Ale was not to our taste. It almost tasted of lemon verbena and quite fresh…. It was just a bit of strange tasting beer- it might suit people that don’t like beer normally. The stout was light and quite refreshing for a stout with the taste not clinging on for too long.

The brewery itself has an open feel and if people were into wine, you could just cross the path and try some of their wines too. We were glad that we tried them but probably wouldn’t go back to them again.
