Campground: Lake Argyle Tourist
Park
Facilities: Toilet, Showers, Potable water, Powered sites, Laundry,
Camp kitchen, Rubbish bins.
Good stuff: Friendly staff, beautiful location and nice
friendly vibe about the place. Also an infinity pool looking over the lake…
WOW!
Not so good stuff: It
gets a bit manic at times with number of people visiting. Also feels a bit like
a festival with having to wear a flouro wristband if you are a guest.
Price: $32 per night for two adults.
Lake Argyle was our final
hoorah and stop off for WA. We only found out recently that Lake Argyle was a
man-made lake from a dam that was built in 1973. From being dammed it is now
the largest freshwater lake in Australia, filled only by monsoonal rain! The
setting of the tourist park is stunning with a spacious feel by comparison to
most caravan parks we have stayed in, not to mention the great facilities. If
you take time to go to the beer garden during happy hour you can have a chat to
your fellow travellers whilst enjoying a cool stubby (that are reasonably
priced considering where we were).

You can go on cruises and take
helicopter tours to see more of Lake Argyle but we decided to see the Lake and
surrounding area by the walks from the caravan park. Ok, we only did a few of
them but it is a great way of seeing the area on a budget.
